Mother of six appeals to CP, Kefas over detention of husband

A mother of six, Hafsat Dahiru, has appealed to Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State and the state’s Commissioner of Police, David Iloyanomon, to assist in securing the release of her husband, Musa Dahiru.

Dahiru, an employee of the state’s Ministry of Agriculture, was reportedly arrested and detained following a social media post criticising the governor’s decision on the appointment of the new Chief of Takum.

The controversial audio post, which is currently trending online, was observed to have faulted the governor for allegedly succumbing to retired General T. Y. Danjuma’s dictates on the traditional stool of Takum council.

Distressed by her husband’s detention, Hafsat, yesterday, made an emotional appeal through media practitioners in the state.

She said: “My six children are dying of hunger since there is nobody to provide food for them on account of my husband’s arrest three weeks ago.”

Lamenting that two of her children are down with sickness, and that she had no money to take them to the hospital or even buy drugs for them, she beckoned on the governor to let her husband go free.

Amid tears, she implored the governor to show compassion by ordering her husband’s immediate release.

Responding, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Digital Communication, Emmanuel Bello, debunked the alleged involvement of his principal in Dahiru’s detention, describing the governor’s alleged involvement as false.

He said: “The governor is a very humane person who abhors injustice and human rights violations.”

When contacted, the spokesperson for the state’s Police Command, Gambo Kwache, denied knowledge of the arrest, saying: “We don’t have anybody bearing such name in our custody.”
