Minister of Steel condemns brutal killings in Kogi State

The Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, on Sunday, strongly condemned the recent brutal killings that took place in Abejukolo and Agojeju Odo, two communities in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State.


Prince Adudu, in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Lizzy Okoji, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims who were tragically killed in such a horrific manner.

Prince Audu has called upon the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Governor Usman Ododo, to prioritize the security of the communities in the state and intervene to address any disputes that may have contributed to this unfortunate incident.

Additionally, the Minister has urged for a thorough investigation into the incident, so as to identify and hold accountable those responsible for this heinous crime, in order to serve as a deterrent to others.


In his statement, Prince Audu stated, “I condemn in strong terms the recent killings in Agojeju Odo, and Abejukolo communities of Kogi East, which left over 19 people dead. This is unacceptable and will not be allowed to continue.”
He further expressed his solidarity with the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Usman Ododo, during this difficult time.

He added, “I want to appeal to the Inspector General of Police to take swift action in investigating this crime, to bring the perpetrators to book to serve as a deterrent to others. It is also very important to resolve all issues that led to the unfortunate incidence so that peace and normalcy can return to the communities.”

The Minister also appealed to the public to remain vigilant, observant of their surroundings, and to collaborate closely with the security agencies.
He emphasized the importance of promptly reporting any suspicious activities that can help prevent such atrocities from occurring in the future.
