Mike Tyson Suffers Medical Scare Enroute To Los Angeles

Boxing legend Mike Tyson suffered a medical scare en route to Los Angeles, from Miami, prompting medical emergencies according to his representatives.

It was reported that he became dizzy, prompting flight attendants to ask passengers if a doctor was on board to assist. Paramedics met the plane upon landing in Los Angeles and treated Tyson after a two-hour delay caused by Miami heat.

His representative however said after the incident that the 57-year-old was now in good condition. “Thankfully, Mr. Tyson is doing great,”.

The incident comes after initial reports surfaced on Monday morning alleging Tyson “had some kind of medical emergency on the plane and paramedics boarded.” Passengers on the flight claimed cabin crew requested a doctor 30 minutes before landing and the message appeared on passenger screens.

An eyewitness described the scene: “He was in first class, but we were an exit row. They asked us to stay on the plane and landed so paramedics could enter. [The stewardess] said something like, ‘He’s a really important passenger so we wanna make sure he’s OK.’ I knew it was him, but I just mouthed the words ‘Mike Tyson’ and she nodded her head yes.”

The plane landed at LAX and experienced another delay of 25 minutes while paramedics treated Tyson.

Tyson admitted to using marijuana daily and has reportedly stopped using the drug in preparation for the fight with Paul. He has also revealed he has temporarily given up sex as part of his training regimen.

“He only stopped as a means of following all of the rules,” Tyson’s publicist recently told USA Today Sports. “But he is still a strong advocate for the medicinal benefits of cannabis for his well-being and others like him.”

The fight between Tyson and Paul is set for AT&T Stadium in Dallas on July 20.  The legendary boxer will be 58 on that night.

“I don’t see too many people critical about it. Look at this,” Tyson said at a press conference earlier this month. “Who? Name me somebody. You? Who?”

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has sanctioned the fight as a professional bout. Although it will be contested over eight two-minute rounds instead of the standard ten or twelve three-minute. The fight will also use heavier gloves (14 ounces instead of 10) to reduce the power of punches.

Tyson retired from professional boxing in 2005. His most recent fight was an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr. in California in November 2020.
