Man lures 10-year-old boy with ‘sweet’ for anal sex in Bauchi, says Police

The Bauchi State Police Command said that its operatives attached to Operation Restore Peace (ORP) arrested one Sanusi Umar, a 23-year-old on 28th March for raping a 10-year-old boy in anal sex.

Police Spokesman Ahmed Wakil in a statement said that the suspect lured the minor with an N30 candy and asked the boy to accompany him to an isolated area along Kofar Ran to defecate.

“After the defecation, the suspect asked the victim to undress his trousers. He wanted to see whether he cleaned his anus. Upon removing his trousers, the suspect also removed his trousers, grabbed the victim from the back and had carnal knowledge of him. The victim rushed to the manager of a filling station (around) and informed him that the said suspect had carnal knowledge of him,” he explained.

Wakil said that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect hails from Jingino village, Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa state.

“He came to Bauchi state about two years ago, hawking garden eggs at a filling station along Kofar Ran, Bauchi. It is also revealed that the suspect leveraged the “unsound mental condition of the victim to perpetrate such a crime on him,” Wakil said.

He said that Police took the victim to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi alongside the suspect, where different tests were conducted on him to determine his health status.

The police spokesman said an investigation is in progress after which the suspect will be charged to court.

He said that the Commissioner of Police CP Auwal Musa Mohammed urged parents, guardians and leaders with influence to prevail on their wards and proteges to shun crime.

He assured the people of Bauchi State of his commitment towards maintaining an aggressive stance against all forms of crime and criminality in the state.
