Louddaaa’s Production on Ayra Starr’s ‘Orun’ pays homage to Nigerian music legends

Louddaaa, the dynamic and multi-talented producer from Lagos, continues to make waves in the music world with his standout contributions to Ayra Starr’s latest project, “The Year I Turned 21.” Among the two captivating tracks he produced, “Orun” stands out as a heartfelt tribute to Nigerian musical legends like Victor Olaiya, Orlando Owoh, Victor Uwaifo, and the rich heritage of Nigerian Highlife music.

“Orun” beautifully blends Louddaaa’s signature fusion of afrobeats and soul with nostalgic elements of Nigeria’s iconic Highlife genre. Drawing inspiration from Nigerian music legends, Louddaaa creates a soundscape that pays homage to the past while pushing the boundaries of contemporary music. The track is a celebration of Nigerian musical heritage, expertly crafted to resonate with both older generations and today’s youth.

Born in Lagos and rooted in Ekiti State, Louddaaa’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. During his NYSC days, he hustled hard in music engineering, finally landing a gig at Mavin Records. Recording heavyweights like Rema, Ayra Starr, and Burna Boy, Louddaaa’s dedication paid off.

“I was so happy; it felt like God confirmed that he wanted me to be a recording engineer,” he shares.

Louddaaa’s big break came one night at Mavin Records. After months of making beats for fun, CEO Don Jazzy suggested he team up with then aspiring Ayra Starr. This spontaneous collab led to hits like “Away,” “DITR,” and “Memories” on Ayra’s debut EP and her first album, “19 & Dangerous.”

“Don Jazzy is a gift to the music scene. Since the day he trusted me to deliver a song, my confidence grew,” says Louddaaa. “It reinstated my belief in myself, and it is quite evident that there’s growth sonically. So, it has been very impactful, to say the least.”

Louddaaa didn’t stop there. He’s worked with top artists like SIMI, Lojay, Chike, and Falz to name a few. His magic touch combined with him and Ayra’s musical chemistry helped Ayra Starr’s “Away” hit number 1 on the Nigerian charts and contributed to the Grammy-nominated Starr’s “Sability.” With over 50 million streams on Spotify, Louddaaa’s influence is undeniable.

In 2023, he won the Afro Soul Producer of the Year award at The Beatz Awards.

Louddaaa’s signature style—a soulful fusion of genres—evokes deep emotions and reflects his life struggles and influences. With mentors like Don Jazzy and Oscar Heman-Ackah, he’s constantly evolving his sound.

The super talented producer aims to release his own producer-artist project featuring various artists and even dive into the tech industry. His ambition knows no bounds, and we can’t wait to see where his journey takes him next.

Louddaaa and Ayra Starr’s collaboration on “The Year I Turned 21” is a proof to their unstoppable talent and creativity.
