Let’s support Tinubu to make Nigeria great – Patience Jonathan

Former First Lady, Patience Jonathan, has called on Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu to make the country great.

Jonathan said this on Thursday during her speech at a colloquium organised to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

“I want to say something dearly from the bottom of my heart. It is our husbands that are voted for, we are not the ones people voted for,” she said.

“So, we must follow our husbands and also listen to them but we have one leader. When elections come, whoever wins becomes our leader.

“The winner also becomes the father of the nation, therefore, we need to join hands with that person to make Nigeria great.

“It is not only about criticising the president but we need to come up with ideas if we have any because with such, we can help to save our country and live together in peace.

“Even if we travel out, as for me, I want to come back home because I don’t have any other country than Nigeria.

“So, we must join hands together to work with Mr President who wins any election and today, it is none other than his Excellency, President Bola Tinubu.

“Let us work together with him and make Nigeria great because the country is our own, so let us join hands with each other.”

She was the First Lady when her husband, Goodluck Jonathan was Nigeria’s president from 2010 to 2015.

Jonathan first assumed office in 2010 when he was promoted from the role of Vice President following the death of President Musa Yar’A Dua.

Jonathan thereafter won the 2011 presidential election under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

He, however, lost out in his re-election bid in 2015 with the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Muhammadu Buhari emerging as the winner.
