LCCI ICTEL expo promises tech disruption, business innovation

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has warned business entities to brace up for disruption as technology continues to shape the way businesses operate across the globe.

LCCI’s Chairman of Trade Promotion Board, Leye Kupoluyi, stated this at a media parley to herald this year’s Information Communication Technology and Telecommunications Expo (ICTEL).

The LCCI ICTEL expo is the leading tech conference and exhibition in West Africa. Currently in its ninth edition, it will be held from July 25-26, 2023, at Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island Lagos and the theme of this year’s event is, “Tech Disrupt: Transforming Industries with Innovation”.

According to the organisers, the expo will feature conference sessions, exhibitions and product launch. Kupoluyi said that to sustain innovation and catch up with the world, Nigerian startups must be given a platform to practically demonstrate their new technological discoveries, which would enable them to have desirable turnover, increase profit merging, gain market share, and enhance customer loyalty. He added that startups as young as two years could also benefit from the numerous benefits that are on offer for businesses.

Revealing that it would be a practical, hands-on expo, he added that a lot of innovations would be demonstrated for visitors and investors.

He further referenced how the pandemic disrupted models that had been hitherto considered ideal, noting that those disruptions had come to stay. “Technological disruption is a fundamental transformation of business models occasioned by replacement of humans and existing business archetypal as a result of technology development. We have seen personal computers displace mainframe computers and digital cameras displacing film cameras, but now the roles of humans have begun to be replaced by robots while business owners struggle to catch up with current trends as what they just learn becomes obsolete before they even implement.”

According to Kupoluyi, the ICTEL 2023 will be demo-driven to showcase the forces disrupting the world’s industries in unprecedented ways, creating new economic opportunities and propelling innovation in different sectors.

Sponsors including Exam Padi, ISACA and Arnergy Solar said they were going to be on the ground during the expo to showcase their recent innovations, promising that attendees were going to be blown away.
