LASTMA introduces ticket alert to track traffic violators

LASTMA

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has introduced a new means of tackling traffic violators called ticket alerts.

LASTMA, in a statement on Wednesday, 14 February, said the ticket alert is a solution to drive the voluntary compliance of motorists with traffic laws while ensuring a hassle-free experience on Lagos roads.

On how the ticket alert works, LASTMA stated that its officials will receive alerts on their mobile devices when vehicles with outstanding fines are nearby.

It stated that the vehicles would be identified through traffic cameras around Lagos and handheld devices used by volunteers supporting LASTMA.

Upon notification, the LASTMA official will locate the vehicle and paste a yellow sticker to bring attention to the unsettled fine.

It explained that vehicle owners have 30 days from when the fine was issued to settle it.

Also, LASTMA stated that the yellow sticker displays information on how one can check and pay outstanding fines.
