Fuad Laguda, yesterday, emerged the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Surulere Constituency 1, House of Representatives by-election to replace former speaker and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed February 3 for the election.
Laguda scored 30 votes to beat other three contestants; Raheed Owokoniran, Lawal Kabir and Manzu Jemila, who had no votes.
Before the primary, Laguda was seen as the anointed candidate of Gbajabiamila, aside from being endorsed by party leaders in the constituency.
Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, had hinted that the former speaker would not be indifferent to the nature and tendency of his successor as a legislator.
