The Lagos State Government said it will test run the Redline Rail from Agbado to Iddo next week.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, disclosed this at a press briefing on Thursday.

Omotoso said that for two months, various interest groups and stakeholders will be invited to take a ride on the train.

According to him, that will make them have a feel of the service the mode of transportation will render on the corridor.

Responding to an inquiry on the state of the roads leading to the Redline train terminal, the commissioner noted that the train was part of the intermodal transportation system.

Omotosho added that as such, connecting roads to rail and ferry facilities will be fixed for easy access.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in February announced the acquisition of additional trains for the Blue Line and Red Line rail projects in Lagos State.

Sanwo-Olu in his announcement said overall, his administration aims to provide a safe, efficient, and interconnected rail system that enhances the lives of Lagosians and contributes to the city’s development.

“I am pleased to announce that we have secured additional trains- rolling stocks for the Blue Line and Red Line rail operations, aimed at providing relief to millions of Lagos residents,” he wrote on X.

“All of these are based on research by the team into the requirements for a mega city like Lagos.

“These new rolling stocks are expected to arrive at different points of the year, thanks to our team’s efforts and our partners’ collaboration.”

According to him, the focus is on improving the commuting experience for the people of Lagos state.

Sanwo-Olu added that the focus is also on reducing traffic congestion, and enhancing the overall quality of life in the city.
