Lagos to remove building obstructing proposed Calabar Coastal Highway Project

The Lagos State government has served a notice of removal of a two-storey structure in the Right of Way of the proposed Lagos – Calabar Coastal Highway Project.

The state government served the notice in a circular from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development and dated 22 March, 2024

In the circular the notice of the owner was brought to the publications of Friday, 15 and Saturday 16 March, 2024 by The Nation and The Punch respectively for the construction of 103km stretch of the 700 kilometres Lagos – Calabar Coastal Highway by the Federal Ministry of Works.

It stated that the property falls within the Right of Way Alignment of the project by 10.4 metres.


The ministry added that the affected portion will be removed in overriding public interest, to pave the way for the road construction project from seven days of serving the notice.

Also, the owner of the affected property is requested to forward all documents supporting ownership of the property to the Permanent Secretary, Lands Bureau, Alausa, Ikeja.

In Early March, the Federal Government announced the commencement of construction work on the 700km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway which will span nine states with two spurs leading to states in the north.


The first phase of the project, is made up of 47.47 kilometers dual carriageway, to Hitech Construction Company Ltd to be constructed in concrete pavement.
