The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development has organised a two-day capacity building programme for registered VYOs and NGOs in the State.

Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Dr Aina Ayoola, informed the participants that they should key their activities into the programme of the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

“Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development has the mandate to conduct this kind of training for capacity development and it is going to be a continuous exercise in Lagos State as envisioned by the administration of Mr Governor,” he said.

On his part, the Director of Youth Development of the ministry, Johnson Adetoye said the training was packaged to provide knowledge and skills to VYOs and NGOs.

The highpoint of the capacity building training was the presentation of Dr Bolarinwa Michael Omotosho,  a veteran youth worker and the Founder of Anchor International Care and Humanitarian Initiative.

Omotosho, in his intervention, said VYOs and NGOs are making a vast positive difference in Lagos State, adding that they must always be a vehicle of positive change in society.

He emphasised seven ways VYOs and NGOs can easily fund their activities.

The participants were exposed to numerous opportunities of funding their activities.

Omotosho charged the participants to put into practice what they learnt from the training and use the knowledge gained to increase fundraising for their organisation.

He stated: “Great programmes don’t produce a great result but people in the great programme who take great steps to implement the great ideas from the programme will produce a great result.”
