Lagos Country Club dissolves interim management board

The Lagos Country Club, Ikeja, at the weekend, passed a vote of no confidence on its interim management board and dissolved it with immediate effect.

The decision was reached at an extraordinary general meeting of the club convened by Lekan Saka Bello and Francis Ofordu.

The club said it dissolved the interim management board because it has no power under its constitution to suspend duly elected officials of the club and replace them with a temporary board.

It also said that the trustees have no power under the constitution of the club to suspend the club’s management council and inaugurate an interim management board to carry out the duties and functions of the management council without the consent, approval and ratification of the members at a duly called general meeting for same purpose.

The club said: “The constitution and inauguration of the interim management board amounts to an imposition on the members and the club contrary to the provisions of the constitution relating to constitution of the body responsible for the day–to-day management of the club and it is therefore unconstitutional, illegal null and void.

“All petitions and litigation actions do not have the support of members and are to be withdrawn forthwith without delay.”
