The administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq presented vehicles to the state’s high court judges.

In a move to enhance the welfare and efficiency of judges, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq presented 11 Toyota Fortuner Jeeps to judges of the state High Court. The Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Abiodun Ayodele Adebara, also received a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser for his office, highlighting the administration’s commitment to supporting the judiciary.

The official presentation took place at the State High Court in Ilorin, with Governor AbdulRazaq’s gesture demonstrating his focus on improving conditions for the state’s judiciary. This initiative follows an earlier allocation of five Toyota Fortuner Jeeps to High Court judges in February 2024, funded by the state government under the 2023 Budget.

The Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Abiodun Adebara, noted that the provision of these new vehicles will further enhance the efficiency of the judiciary and acknowledged the governor’s prompt response to the judiciary’s needs. He mentioned that an additional five Toyota Fortuner Jeeps, purchased under the 2024 approved budget, were allocated to another five judges.

Governor AbdulRazaq also released seven additional Toyota vehicles, six of which are intended for six new judges yet to be appointed. Justice Adebara explained that having vehicles is a prerequisite for appointing new judges, according to the National Judicial Council (NJC), with the seventh vehicle designated for the Chief Judge’s office.

Justice Abiodun Adebara was at the presentation.

Justice Adebara expressed his gratitude to Governor AbdulRazaq for his support of the judiciary, indicating that the governor’s actions have had a positive impact on the judiciary’s operations. He recalled that the last time judges received vehicles from the government was eight years ago, emphasizing that updated vehicles improve efficiency and morale among judges.

Despite these recent improvements, some judges still lack vehicles, but Justice Adebara expressed confidence that the governor’s support would continue to address these needs in due course.
