Church bemoans worsening global insecurity
The Adogu of Eganyi, Kogi State, HRH Muhammed Adambe, has regained his freedom.
The abducted first class traditional ruler was released on Saturday evening after five days in captivity.
A source close to the palace quoted the traditional ruler as saying that after a very long and tortuous journey into the bush, the captors returned him to Ebiraland on Saturday.
The source said that the monarch could not tell exactly where he was taken to, but believed that it was outside Ebiraland.
He praised God for the safe return of the Adogu, whom he said came back unhurt.
Adambe was kidnapped on Tuesday along Okene–Ajaokuta road while returning to his domain after an engagement in Okene.
The kidnappers had earlier demanded N30 million ransom.
However, the source could not tell whether ransom was paid to secure the release of the traditional ruler from his abductors, who had negotiated N6 million by Friday evening.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Kogi Command, DSP William Ayah, said he was not aware of any payment of ransom before the release.
HOWEVER, Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide has bemoaned the increasing cases of terrorism in Nigeria in particular and the rest of the world in general, urging world leaders to rise to the occasion in the interest of all.
The President, CAC Worldwide, Dr. Henry Ojo, raised concern during the 25th anniversary of the CAC Arogungbogunmi International, Olunde, Ibadan, yesterday.
“If you say that attacks by bandits in Nigeria are targeted at Christians alone, I will not agree. Anyone staying in the North would understand what the northern Christians and Muslims are facing. The issue of terrorism and insecurity is a global phenomenon; it is not only in Nigeria. It is the sign of end time.
“We knew the situation of things before the current administration came on board. The terrorists entered Abuja and were bombing public utilities. We are not saying they have done well now; we want the Federal Government to do more so that citizens can sleep peacefully. Nigeria had never been like this. President Muhammadu Buhari needs to put more efforts. I believe that we shall overcome the challenges.”
