Kebbi: CSOs accuse lawmakers of frustrating Child Protection Bill

The Kebbi State coalition of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) has accused members of the state House of Assembly of frustrating passage of Child Protection Bill and Violence Against person Prohibition (VAPP) Bill sent to the House six months ago by the governor.

A statement signed by the Coalition’s Chairman, Ibrahim Ngasky, said two bills were sent to the House six months ago, and three months from the date of the public hearing, but nothing was done by the legislators.

He said necessary arrangements had been done by both CSOs and non-governmental organisations to support implementation of the bills, but they were later thrown out.

He called on the Speaker and other members of the House of Assembly to have a rethink, and as a matter of utmost importance, pass the two bills.
