•Kwankwaso lauds gov’s stewardship
In furtherance of his electioneering promises, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano state has ignited hope in rural communities with the groundbreaking for an 85 kilometres network of roads and a bridge valued at N21 billion.
A statement by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the projects are to redefine rural landscapes and enhance livelihoods of the populace.
The epicentre of the transformative initiative includes a 70 kilometres expanse from Bridge Madobi to Madobi town, spanning through Yako to Kafin Mai Yaki, terminating in Kiru.
The investment, the statement noted, underscores the state government’s commitment to boosting transportation infrastructure crucial for agricultural and economic growth in rural areas.
Additionally, a second project featuring a 15-kilometre road and a 200-metre bridge from Madobi town to Kubarachi and Kura, the spokesman said, indicates his principal’s “profound dedication to catalysing progress across the semi-urban and rural areas.”
In a ceremony graced by distinguished guests, including the national leader and former NNPP presidential candidate, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, the governor articulated a bold timeline, assuring completion of the projects within 18 and 24 months.
The statement continued: “Governor Yusuf’s vision aims not only to bridge urban-rural divides, but also to cultivate sustainable economic pathways, thus curbing rural-urban migration and fostering prosperity in the hinterland.”
Kwankwaso, who is also an ex-governor, applauded the electorate for electing Yusuf, whom he referred to as a performer and strong-willed leader.
He praised the governor for his outstanding performance during the first year of stewardship in the last one year.
During a Sallah homage, Kwankwaso commended Yusuf’s dedication to advancing education and women empowerment initiatives aimed at enhancing the lives of Kano residents in alignment with the values of the Kwankwasiyya philosophy.
He expressed delight at the governor’s commitment to empowering women with substantial support, noting its significance for rural entrepreneurs.
Drawing from his experience as a former governor, Kwankwaso emphasised the importance of effective monitoring to ensure equitable distribution of empowerment grants.
He called for enhanced efforts in security, empowerment of the less privileged, and advancement of developmental projects, underscoring his commitment as a stakeholder to provide valuable guidance and support to the government.
