Kano APC backs Ganduje, suspends ward officials for six months

Former Kano State governor and APC chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The Kano State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has faulted the purported suspension of the national chairman of the party, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from the party.

The party position came barely less than an hour after the legal adviser of the party in Dawkin Tofa local council of Kano state, Haliru Gwarzo announced the suspension of Ganduje from the party based on allegations of bribery and corrupt practices leveled against him by the Kano State Government.

However, the Abdullahi Abbas-led national working committee (NWC) of the party in Kano state described the decision taken by Gwarzo as an aberration and a clear breach of the party constitution.

Abbas who frowned at the development thereby suspended Gwarzo and his accomplices for six months from the party.

According to him: “We have evidence of meetings between the State Government officials and those that suspended the National Chairman, and state working committee has agreed to sanctioned them for six months and they stand for now Suspended.”

The Kano APC chapter decision followed the adoption of the recommendations of the APC Dawakin Tofa Local Government chapter chaired by Malam Inusa Suleiman Dawanau.

Dawanau accused Gwarzo of working in cahoots with the opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) administration in Kano in arriving at the decision to suspend Ganduje from the party in his ward.

Dawanau, explained that those behind the suspension of Ganduje have been found wanting of indulging in anti party activities as there are evidence of their meetings with the opposition NNPP to prove their level of culpability.
