Kaduna State House of Assembly, yesterday, set up a 13-man ad hoc committee to investigate financial transactions, loans, grants, and projects executed under the immediate-past Governor of the state, Nasir El-Rufai.

A member representing Kaura constituency, Yusuf Mugu, moved the motion on a matter of public importance that the loans borrowed by the former governor be investigated.

Speaker of the House, Yusuf Dahiru Liman, who presided over the plenary, urged the ad hoc committee to invite all relevant stakeholders for questioning and investigation on the matters.

The House also mandated the committee to invite notable personalities, including the former speaker of the Eight and Ninth Assemblies, former commissioners of Finance, former managing directors of Kaduna Markets, former Senior Counselor, who was also El-Rufai’s associate, Jimi Lawal; and ex-commissioners of Budget and Planning in the state to give an account of the foreign, domestic loans and other financial transactions under the former government.

The probe, initiated by the Assembly, emerged after Governor Uba Sani accused his predecessor, El-Rufai, of leaving lots of debt burden of $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities.

MEANWHILE, El-Rufai’s political ally, Aisha Galadima, who was arrested by the Department of State Services, (DSS) has alleged that she was harassed and beaten while in custody.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain made the allegation after her release from the custody of the security agency. Galadima was arrested in Kaduna over a post on her Facebook page criticising the state governor, Uba Sani.

She was picked up and whisked away from her residence on Sunday afternoon. The arrest was confirmed by one of her brothers, who said: “Aisha has just been arrested by DSS at her Tudun Wada residence in Kaduna.”

Confirming her release, the APC chieftain said she was harassed and beaten by DSS operatives.

Addressing newsmen, Galadima said she was inside her room when four DSS operatives came to drag her out.

“I was inside my room about to take my bath when they came in and dragged me out. I saw four of their Hilux vehicles outside the gate. They pushed me inside and drove away,” she said.

According to her, the DSS accused her of making a post against Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, in February.
