Jennifer Is Out Of Nigerian Idol Season 9 With Lonely At The Top

The vocal prowess, stage control and judges’ admiration could not save Jennifer Igomu from eviction from Nigerian Idol season 9.

The vocal prowess, stage control and judges’ admiration could not save Jennifer Igomu from eviction from Nigerian Idol season 9.

From powerful ballads to energetic anthems, each performance brought something unique to the stage in the Nigerian Idol as it moved one step closer to the finals. Jennifer Igomu made it to the top 10 but her time on the show ended on Sunday after she got the lowest votes out of the 10 contestants.

After her eviction was announced, she was asked to perform for the last time. Feeling undefeated, she grabbed the mic and got the crowd in the mood with Asake’s ‘Lonely at the Top’ rendition.

Disappointed judges, Omawumi, 9ice and Ric Hassani pleaded with Nigerians to vote to keep the best in the game. They expressed disappointment that Jennifer did not get the needed votes to continue her journey on the show.

The nine remaining contestants are Gracia, Stevie, Chima, Mira Clear, Lammy, Lady Ruth, David Garland, Maio and Chioma. After Jennifer’s performance, Gracia delivered her soulful version of ‘Pata Pata’ by Miriam Makeba.

Stevie performed Fell It by Davido and taught IK Osakioduwa the dance step. David Garland performed ‘Easy (Jeje)’ by Reekado Banks. Mira Clear wowed the audience with her rendition of Chidinma’s ‘Kedike.’ Chioma delivered ‘In The Music’ by Omawumi and brought Omawumi to the stage to add spice to the night.  Lady Ruth showcased her vocal agility with Tems’ ‘Try Me’.

Lammy came through with Wizkid’s ‘Holla At Your Boy’, while Maio gave a captivating performance of ‘Nobody’ by Joeboy. Chima closed the night and excited the audience with his performance of Chike’s ‘Beautiful People.
