Innovators, investors tackle climate change at African diasporan summit

Innovators, investors and world leaders are set to converge on Silicon Valley, California, United States of America, this month to discuss the future of Africa at the African Diaspora Investment Symposium 2024 (ADIS24).

ADIS24 is the ninth annual global convening that celebrates and champions the entrepreneurial and innovative spirit of Africans, African Diasporans and friends of Africa.

Hosted by African Diaspora Network (ADN), the premier convening of the African investment ecosystem in Silicon Valley, will inspire and equip participants to be agents of change and active contributors to the development of Africa and communities the diasporans live.

The conference activates the potential of collaboration, drawing participants from 89 different countries over the last eight years.

The theme for this year’s ADN event, ADIS24, to be held between March 20 and 22 at Hayes Mansion, San Jose, is Activate with Africa: Climate Change, Connections and Actions.

Founder and Executive Director of ADN, Almaz Negash, who is also a member of the U.S. President’s Advisory Council on African Diaspora Engagement, said ADIS24 would continue the nine years tradition of fostering the ingenuity of the African community at home and abroad alongside champions from around the world in a three-day gathering bringing together leaders and entrepreneurs from around the globe.

“ADIS24 will catalyse action and connect key activators in the community to collaborate and create change together, with a focus on climate change. ADIS is more than a conference; it’s an experience that immerses our guests in a community dedicated to transforming the African continent. Whether you are an African, African diaspora, or friend of Africa, ADIS presents an opportunity to meet with experts, innovators, and change makers in a setting that invites human connection, conversation, and collaboration among individuals across sectors.

“This year’s edition holds particular significance as we are shining a spotlight on climate change. An insightful recommendation from our community was to extend the focus over three days, during which leaders and entrepreneurs from across the globe will convene to envision opportunities, device collective solutions, and explore strategies for effectively mobilizing resources to address the challenges of climate change. Our discussions will span various issues, including education, healthcare, artificial intelligence, investment, and more,” she stated.
