Imo okays N1b for primary healthcare, to build 135km rural roads

Uzodimma partners IPAC on democratic tenets
Imo State government has approved N1 billion for the rehabilitation of health centres in the 305 electoral wards across the state, as part of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s agenda on primary healthcare.

A statement issued, yesterday, by the Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to the governor, Oguwike Nwachuku, also disclosed that the proposal for the construction of 135km rural roads (five kilometres in each of the 27 councils) before the next rainy season.


Rising from the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting presided over by Uzodimma, the state government also hinted that construction work was ongoing in 25 different roads across the state.

Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, said: “In an effort to ensure that promises made by this administration are kept, the 3-R administration has embarked on the reconstruction of the roads to address the concerns of Imo people on road infrastructure.”

He said the government of Shared Prosperity has also commenced work on the second balloon technology-driven underground tunnel that would evacuate flood from the World Bank, Amakohia, Akwakuma and other axis into the Nworie River.

The commissioner also disclosed that a committee had been set up on the N1 billion earmarked for the renovation of health centres.

ALSO, Uzodimma declared that he would collaborate the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) to deepen democracy in the state and entire country.

He stated this when state executive members of IPAC, visited him at Government House, Owerri.
