IGP drags Oyero to court over alleged arson, attempted murder

The Inspector General of Police has dragged Samuel Oyero to Ogun State Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ilaro over what is alleged to be attempted murder and arson.


The IGP, through the Force Criminal Investigation Department (Force CID), filed 13 counts charge marked MLO/2M/2022 before the Chief Magistrate, accusing Oyero, and others at large, of conspiracy, attempted murder and arson.

The prosecution counsel, Moruf Animashaun alleged that Oyero and others now at large, on September 12, 2022, at about 14:45 hours at Isalegbodo Quarters, Agosasa, in Ipokia Council of Ogun State, did conspire among themselves, to commit felonies; to wit, attempted murder and arson.

The prosecution alleged that the defendant attempted to unlawfully kill one Akeem Adigun and breach public peace. He had mobilised a group of thugs and set various properties belonging to Akeem Adigun ablaze.

The properties they willfully and unlawfully destroyed were: Mercedes Benz GLE 63 2021 Model valued at N90 million, Range Rover Autobiography 2022 model, which is worth N120 million, two Hummer Jeep 2020 model, whose value are N80 million.

Other properties allegedly destroyed include, Toyota Coaster Bus 2020 model, which is valued at N70 million, two Power Bikes whose value are N140 million and one Antic Peugeot 403, which is worth N30 million.

Part of the 13 counts charge read: “That you, Samuel Oyero and others now at large, on September 12, 2022 at Adigun Ariori Castle Ipokia Road, Agosasa in Ipokia Council of Ogun State, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, willfully and unlawfully destroyed Mercedes Benz Station Wagon 2018 Model valued 34,000,000 only property of Otunba Akeem Adigun.”

The offences are said to be contrary to and punishable under Section 516, 355, 320 (2) and section 451 of the Criminal Law Cap 29 Vol.1 of the Revised Criminal Law of Ogun State, 2006.
