In a bid to address pressing healthcare challenges and curb the alarming rate of brain drain in Nigeria’s healthcare industry, Ibilola Okunola, a registered and certified Nigerian Australian nurse, has proffer solutions to address the problem.

Ibilola, drawing on her extensive experience in both Nigerian and Australian healthcare systems, stressed the need for strategic measures to enhance the quality of healthcare services in Nigeria.

Speaking with journalists, she emphasised the importance of investing in healthcare infrastructure, ensuring adequate training for medical professionals, and fostering a supportive work environment.

While proposing the creation of an environment that retains skilled healthcare professionals, Ibilola identified initiatives such as improved work conditions, competitive salaries, and professional development opportunities to keep healthcare talents within the country.

In addition to addressing the challenges, Ibilola stressed the need to leverage modern technology to enhance healthcare delivery.

She noted the potential of telehealth solutions and online training programmes to reach underserved communities, especially in remote areas.

To further contribute to the cause, Ibilola announced her intention to collaborate with local healthcare organisations and government agencies to coach the new generation of nurses and health care professionals in the country, while calling for partnerships and dialogue among stakeholders in the healthcare industry.
