House of Sota marks black history, lifestyle

Founder and Creative Director of House of Sota, an international brand that incorporates African fabrics with contemporary fashion, Folashade Balogun, has unveiled her latest collections tagged Sota Diverse to mark black history and lifestyle.
  
The new collections celebrate the uniqueness of African culture with an opulent burst of colours and prints. The pieces are enticed by the richness in colour alongside texture of artifacts, thereby adding a contemporary twist that reveals the histories of the blacks beyond stories of racism and slavery to spotlight black achievement.
  
The exquisite event, which took place at Radisson Blu, Ikeja, Lagos recently had in attendance dignitaries and notable Nigerians, including Minister for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uchechukwu Ugah; Christine Ibori; Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi; Lisa Masillon; Kendra Miller and others.
    
In her remarks, Balogun said: “For this collection, we are inspired by the beauty of our African culture, with keen detailing from our artifacts, especially from the ancient Ekiti and Benin kingdoms.”
