Guber polls: My blueprint will ensure Ondo gets enviable status in Nigeria, says Ohunyeye

… Carpets aspirants dropping Akeredolu’s name for political gains

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Brigadier General Olamide Ohunyeye (rtd), in the forthcoming November governorship election in Ondo State, has disclosed that he has identified the challenges bedeviling the state, which he vowed to tackle with his blueprint.

Ohunyeye, who stressed that the state had been lagging behind in the last seven years, emphasised that citizens of the state had long been yearning for a visionary and compassionate leader who would heed their cries.

Speaking with The Guardian in Akure, the state capital, the retired military officer revealed that he will clinch the ticket of the party based on his experience, background, and preparedness for the plum job in the state.

He said: “In order to ensure we transform Ondo State, I developed a blueprint, and the blueprint is an omnibus policy that covers all the sectors of the economy and that drives our vision.

“We have envisioned a state where employment will be top-notch, where leadership will be accountable to the people, and where the weaponized concept of poverty will be reversed.

“What could be more agonising is the fact that when you look at states that are supposed to have equal status in terms of revenue generation and oil production, Ondo State is completely nowhere to be found.”

The governorship aspirant, who admonished residents of the state to be weary of desperate politicians seeking to govern the state at all costs, decried the attitude of some aspirants who have been dropping the name of the late former governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, for political gain.

“None of these individuals, including myself, can make themselves governors, but the collective power of the people can make them governors. This is the time when we must be able to know who is fit to govern the state so that we can get the best for our people instead of wasting another eight years in the life of this state.

“We have a party that is very progressive, and fortunately for us, we have a very dynamic and visionary leader in the person of Asiwaju Bola Ahmen Tinubu. We know his antecedents.

“We know that the President will employ the yardsticks, the right milestones, and the right consultations to determine who has the best capacity and is most fit to govern Ondo State.”
