Group trains FRSC officials on quick life-saving response

The Health Emergency Initiative (HEI) has trained 30 officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on effective management of pre-hospital emergencies.

The Executive Director of Health Emergency Initiative (HEI), Paschal Achunine disclosed that HEI is a non-profit organisation that pays hospital bills and provides intervention for indigent and vulnerable patients in public hospitals.

The personnel were trained to preserve lives and enhance the chances of survival of the victims, prevent illness or injury from becoming worse, relieve pains when possible, promote recovery and protect unconscious persons.

He added that the trained personnel can effectively handle critical pre-hospital emergencies such as spinal cord injury, heart attack,  cardiac arrest, choking,  fractures,  bites, burns, Head and Neck injury, fainting,  bleeding etc.

According to him, “HEI also gives timely support to patients that require emergency medical attention, especially post-crash care for accident victims.

“We have our newly established First Responders Academy to train thousands of First Responders in the new year. We are set to train 100 secondary school students and we have concluded a plan to train 2,000 for the rest of 2022.

He appealed to well-meaning individuals and top reputable foundations to support the HEI project to save more lives in the country.

He observed that with a lot of lessons that ought to have been learnt from the COVID 19 pandemic, little or nothing has been done to revive the health sector.

“The vision is to put in place a proactive functional and technology-driven emergency response system,” he stated.
