The Federal Government (FG) has begun the revitalisation process of all River Basin Development Authorities across the country for efficiency and service delivery.

The Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, disclosed this while inaugurating the 500,000 litres per day capacity Water Scheme to serve projected10, 000 people in Ezealapkaka, Ehime Mbano Local Council of Imo State, and its environs. He also commissioned other projects.

He said the projects were financed by the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, adding that they were intended to provide basic needs and facilities to the people.

The minister said he was satisfied with the visionary leadership of the Managing Director of the Anambra Imo River Basin Development Authority (AIRBDA), Gerald O. Osuagwu.

The Minister said: “The revitalisation of the Agbala Integrated Songhai Farms would serve as training centre geared towards educating farmers on modern, effective and efficient farming methods that would increase agricultural production and ensure food security.”

The Managing Director of the AIRBDA, Osuagwu, said the projects were initiated by the minister, four years ago.

He said: “These projects fall in line with the authority’s mandate and vision, which include improving on the lives of the people and communities within its catchment and delivering dividends of democracy.”

Other projects inaugurated were the Basin’s Water Factory with a production capacity of 25,000 bottles (60 cl) and 12,000 sachets per hour; and the Palm Oil Processing Mill with production capacity of 10,000 metric tonnes per hour.
