GNI woos Nigerians with new retail insurance products

An underwriting firm, Great Nigeria Insurance Plc (GNI), has expressed its readiness to increase insurance penetration through the launch of new products and the use of technology.

According to the company, there was a need for it to redress innovation and drive its products with emerging technology while building effective communication to serve customers effectively in the country.

The products, according to the underwriter, were released to assist Nigerians to mitigate risks at pocket-friendly rates.


The products are GNI Motor Flex, Great Savers Delight (GSD), GNI Fireproof, and Personal Accident Insurance (PAI). They have been duly approved and certified by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).

The products were released to offer more benefits to policyholders at inexpensive costs, especially during this current economic situation in the country.

Speaking on the benefit of the innovative products, the Managing Director/Chief Executive of Great Nigeria Insurance Plc, Cecilia Osipitan, said the GNI Motor Flex, Fireproof, and Personal Accident retail products are designed to protect the life.

And property of policyholders in form of monetary compensation while the Great Savers Delight is an investment-linked savings plan developed to promote savings culture.

She stressed that the insurer has put in place a stress-free underwriting documentation process in all its branch offices nationwide and enjoined the public to walk into any of the offices nearest to them and pick up any of the company’s products and services applicable to them.

Speaking on the commitment of the underwriting firm to Nigerian, the Corporate Communications, Brand Management and Customer Service Manager, Ms. Oyinkansola Sobande, said the company is ready to drive retail business having identified the segment of the market as a veritable means of improving insurance market penetration in the country.

According to her, “As a market leader, we have identified the need to create new unique products and not recycle already existing generic products. Considering the staggering 86% of uninsured citizens with insurable interests; the market is available to be exploited”.

Also commenting, Head of Corporate Services, Kofoworola Oshiga stated that the products were developed to meet customers’ specific needs at highly competitive rates.

She assured Nigerians that whenever they pick up any of the company’s products or services, they should rest assured of exceptional service delivery, satisfaction, and value for money as well as prompt claims settlement whenever it occurs.
