Funke Akindele gets new car to celebrate A Tribe Called Judah

Nigerian actress, Funke Akindele, has been surprised with a brand new car. She was given the car by automobile group, GAC Motors, at an event held in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event, which was titled, A Toast To Funke Akindele, was to honour the actress for her incredible accomplishment of grossing over a billion in cinemas with the movie, A Tribe Called Judah.

The event attracted artistes such as Iyabo Ojo, Sola Sobowale, Omowunmi Dada, Taaooma, Bisola Aiyeola, Timini, Diadem, Adunni Ade, Yvonne Jegede, Kehinde Bankole, the cast of A Tribe Called Judah and others.

Speaking on being celebrated, she said: “I feel good being celebrated, I feel honoured and blessed because many are called but few are chosen. I thank God for this opportunity; I am so excited about what FilmOne is doing with GAC Motors.”

On why people refer to her as the Queen of Box Office, Akindele said: “The accolades do come. I just see a Funke that works so hard and God blesses her effort, so, anybody can be the Queen of box office.

“Hardwork, consistency, being prayerful and staying focused are responsible for the success.” Speaking on how Funke Akindele’s exploits has inspired her, actor and skit maker, Maryam Apaokagi, known professionally as Taaooma, said: “She inspires me a lot. When I see her doing a lot of things, it shows that we can get there too. She’s a big inspiration to a lot of girls out there. She’s giving us hope that we can do much more.

“I am trying to improve on my craft so, the world should expect something amazing from me. N1 billion is not a joke so, this has paved ways and things will not be difficult for us as young actors.”

Also, Nigerian actor, Olumide Oworu, said: “Her success shows that anything is possible; nobody at any point thought a Nigerian movie will make N1 billion so, next call is to raise the bar. I am excited to be part of the movie industry and I am inspired by this to make amazing projects of my own.”

Speaking on the movie success, Iyabo Ojo said: “I am excited for her. This is a good and a good win: a win for one is a win for all.”

“Nigerian should be expecting movies from me as I am working on movie projects. I will be shooting for YouTube, cinemas and others.“I am available and willing to be on other reality shows apart from the Real Wives of Lagos.”
