FRC, ACCA strategise on corporate governance, anti-corruption campaign

The Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) has collaborated with the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) of Nigeria to promote and further improve corporate governance, tame corruption in the public as well as private sectors.


The two entities have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to exchange professional ideas and strengthen sustainability reporting aimed at promoting good governance.

Speaking at the end of the signing ceremony in Abuja, the Chief Executive Officer of ACCA, Helen Brand Obe, said: “We are here to strengthen our collaboration with the FRC especially in the area of corporate governance in the nation’s public and private sectors.”

She said it is time accounting professionals pulled ideas together in areas of technology and enforcement of accounting standards.


On his part, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the FRC, Dr Rabiu Olowo, said ACCA and FRC had a long-standing relationship that has supported the council, especially in the exchange of ideas.

“Today’s collaboration and the signing of the MOU will further help us to get technical assistance from the global body, especially as relates to the accounting profession and standards.

“We see ACCA as a credible partner that can share with us new global ideas around financial reporting, specific issues like sustainability reporting and in everything that has got to do with our profession.”
