Foundation celebrates less-privileged children in Ogun

It was a memorable event for no fewer than 200 children, as the proudly showcased Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage to mark this year’s Children’s Day. The yearly event, tagged ‘Smiley Faces’ was organisaed by a non-governmental organisation, Sparkle Foundation, on Monday, at Wesley Primary School 2, Isale-Oko, Shagamu, Ogun State. It was to celebrate and honour children in disadvantaged communities.

This year’s theme, “Unity in Diversity,” was chosen to highlight and celebrate the beauty of the country’s diverse cultures.The event not only promoted unity, but also created an inclusive atmosphere, emphasising the importance of coexistence in love and unity. Despite our cultural differences, our children highlighted our collective strength as a country.

The Chief Executive Officer, Sparkle Foundation, Mrs Olasimbo Ojuroye , said: “ Diversity is not a weakness to be feared but a strength to be cherished.”
She urged everyone to embrace diversity and foster unity to build a brighter future for generations to come.

Distinguished guests at the event included Oba Odunayo Gabriel Babatunde, the Aminishan of Oko Kingdom, Councillor Lade Olugbemi, Founder of NOUS Organisation, Apostle Ogunbote, the Education Secretary of Shagamu Local Government, among others.

The event which was supported by Fanmilk, McDonstep Civil and Infrastructure Engineers, Multi Concept, Greatminds, United Kingdom, and Phylum, featured the distribution of school bags, books, Ankara materials, and more, making it a day of joy and unity for all participants.
