The organisers said the aim of the event in its third edition, with the theme, ‘Empowering the next generation for the future of work’, was to equip Nigerian children with updated skills and knowledge, necessary to thrive in the 21st-century workforce, as well as rapidly growing world of technology.

Slated to hold on July 22 at the Landmark Event Centre, in Lagos, the organisers, comprising of 9ijakids, STEM METS, Edufun Technik Hub and SabiTeach, said the programme was packaged to hone the skills of the children with regards to knowledge of STEAM such that they fit with global standards.

Co-founder of 9ijakids, Titi Adewusi, explained that the festival provides a platform for children aged 6 to 14 to engage in hands-on activities and experiments in STEAM to ignite their curiosity and stimulate their creativity.

Adewusi, who spoke on behalf of the organisers, urged parents, teachers, educators and regulators to improve, as well as prioritise STEAM education to instil the culture in children.

She said: “The STEAM Fun Fest is an opportunity to expose children to the future of work. As technology progresses daily, statistics have shown that technology is going to account for 75 per cent of future jobs and to ensure that children are aware of this. We must expose these children to a world beyond Mathematics, English and science, but engaging them in more of problem-solving and critical thinking.”
