Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has vowed to prosecute individuals, who colluded with former Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Hudu Ari, during the 2023 gubernatorial election.

Speaking yesterday in Yola, the governor commended the electoral umpire for remaining impartial despite Ari’s “irresponsible and unlawful” conduct.

He said legal action was necessary to protect the electoral process and democratic culture from abuse, lauding the judges, who gave fair judgments that resonated with Adamawa people.

Fintiri also urged the people to set aside their grudges and work towards a better society.

The governor acknowledged that false hopes and deception have caused serious damage to supporters and unity among the people, stressing that there is a limit to what falsehood can achieve.

“The task ahead is enormous, requiring unity of purpose, pooling of resources, integration of talent and leveraging the unique attributes of each person to create a better society for the people,” he said.

Fintiri reiterated his commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process, adding that his call for unity and progress demonstrates his dedication to the welfare and progress of the people of Adamawa State.
