FG to train 5000 job seekers on skills, entrepreneurship

About 5000 job seekers will be trained under the Federal Government Social Investment Initiative on various entrepreneurial skills and programmes to empower and make them employers of labour.

The Osun State Social Investment Focal Person and Co-ordinator of the training programme, Kehinde Ibitoye, said the development initiative is powered by UNIPRENEUR, an international digital entrepreneurship e-learning platform in partnership with Osun State government and supported by Fidelity Bank Plc.

He said the initiative, slated to hold through May, would empower 5,000 Osun State indigenous entrepreneurs, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SMEs), job seekers, members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), workers and graduate students.

He said this would allow them to have access to a stimulated entrepreneurship knowledge economy, get access to over 600 profitable business ideas and stimulate business knowledge.

According to Ibitoye, other benefits and requirements of beneficiaries of the training include, access to business opportunities in Africa, the opportunity to register a company with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and access to other legal services.”

He said the initiative is in tandem with Governor Ademola Adeleke’s commitment to training job seekers and making them become employers of labour. On access to loans, he said: “Fidelity Bank’s commitment is to facilitate the opening of corporate and individual accounts for all the 5000 participants, offering them SMEs loan to only qualify businesses and also provide other business banking support services for them subject to the bank procedures.

“The 5000 participants are expected to enjoy the full support of the state government when the state eventually launched its small and medium enterprises programme,” he said.
