FG seeks long-term credit access from development partners

Bagudu

The federal government has called on development partners to help Nigeria gain access to long-term capital for its economic growth and development.

The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, made the call while in an audience with the new United Nations Resident Coordinator and representative of the Secretary-General in Nigeria, Mohammed Malik Fall, in his office.

The minister commended the UN for the support given to Borno citizens, which has encouraged them to go back to their farms and villages.

Bagudu hoped that the UN partnership would be sustained in the country. He extolled the body’s role dealing with challenges of inequality, hunger and poverty.

Fall said the UN was willing to assist Nigeria in tackling the economic challenges, including inflation and currency depreciation, as the challenges have a way of impacting negatively on vulnerable groups in the country.
