FG must provide best filming environment, security for Nollywood filmmakers –Chris Eneaji

Famous Nigeria movie Director, Editor and filmmaker, Chris Eneaji has advised the Federal Government, headed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to as a matter of urgency give the needed support to the Nollywood and the entire entertainment industry if they need to boost the country’s GDP.

Chris who spoke with our correspondent during one of his shoots in Nigeria explained that filmmakers need to get the best filming environment and security while filming their movies.

The filmmaker who has produced and directed movies for Cinema, Netflix, Africa Magic, ROKTV, IROKOTV, and other streaming platforms and TV services has this to say.

“A lot can be done. One is to ensure that Nollywood filmmakers get the best filming environment and security while filming. We have encountered far too many illegal taxations not from government agencies, but from individuals and thugs who constantly harass and attack actors and crew in giving them money or they disrupt the filming process.

“If this can be curbed, a lot can be achieved in making sure that we achieve success than managing chaos.

“Security cannot be over emphasised. Government should look at the security situations in our rural spaces to help filmmakers access the best locations to tell deep local and epic stories we find interest in.

“Lastly, we need more cinema houses and exhibition centers across the country. If the government can encourage investors in film, and more cinema houses opens up, a lot more movies will gross fairly well to see more contents made and exhibited. And this would increase the GDP of the country,” he added.
