Federal High Court Judges begin 2024 annual vacation July 23

Judges of the Federal High Court of Nigeria are to proceed on their 2024 yearly vacation from July 23, according to the Chief Judge of the Court, Justice John Terhemba Tsoho.

The Chief Judge who disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja said that the vacation is under to the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4 (d) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2019.

He said that the Vacation will commence on Tuesday, the 23rd day of July 2024, and terminate on Friday, the 13th day of September 2024.

Formal Court sittings shall however resume on Monday, the 16th day of September, 2024.


Spokesman of the Court, Dr Catherine Oby Christopher, on behalf of the Chief Judge explained that the vacation is in order for judges to enjoy their rest and to prepare for the tasks and activities of the new legal year.

Meanwhile, the three premier divisions of the court in Lagos Abuja, and Port-Harcourt would be functional for the litigating public to approach for matters of extreme urgency only.

According to the statement, the Abuja division of the court would be manned by Justices Emeka Nwite and Peter O. Lifu as vacation Judges.


The Lagos division is to have Justices Akintayo Aluko and Isaac D. Dipeolu while Port-Harcourt division would have Justices A. T. Mohammed and P. M. Ayua as vacation Judges.

The Chief Judge wished his fellow brother Judges a pleasant vacation in advance.
