• We are not land grabbers, says Nola family
The Idogun Oloko Chieftaincy Family, Lekki, Lagos, has petitioned the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo, over alleged trespass on their property located at Goodwill Estate, Araromi village, Abijo GRA, Lekki Peninsula, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos by Onyx Global Investment Limited, Biodun Nola and Isiaka Nola family.

They alleged that Nola family was reselling the 10-hectare of land, which had been sold some years ago and hired thugs to chase away the new owners.

Lawyer to the family, Biodun Adeyemi, in the petition, said: “The Idogun Oloko family is the lawful owners of the property situated with survey plan no. LS/D/LA/1365 and registered as No. 64 Page 64 Vol 2077 at the Land Registry and the title to the expanse of land was further confirmed as our client’s through the High Court Judgments.”

Adeyemi said the trespassers, through their actions, were already causing complete breakdown of law and order that had degenerated into anarchy in the community.

“The trespassers who are not accredited representatives or agents of our client, have been fraudulently selling plots of land to innocent people thereby creating a serious problem in the community,” he said.

Also speaking with The Guardian, a representative of the Oloko family, Muniru Elemoro, said: “We have been on the matter for years. We are members of the same family but they claimed the disputed land belongs to their father alone.” Reacting to the allegation, one of the accused, Mr. Akeem Akintunde, denied the allegation, saying that they were not land grabbers.

Akintunde said: “We are investors, we bought the land from Asojunola family. We didn’t invite Mopol and thugs to come to the land. The people there are members of the Nola family who sold the land to us and we did not demolish any building. We bought the land from the Asojunola family in October 2021.”
