Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), The Giant Creative (TGC), Jegede Oluwabukola, has called for a revamp in the creative industry, saying stakeholders in the sector are not doing enough towards providing proper mentorship for the upcoming in the industry.

Oluwabukola, a brand designer and digital strategist, who made the comment during an interactive session with newsmen yesterday, said the issue was promoting why many young people who are talented to fit in any of the categories in the industry are seeking alternative careers.

“Some of the young creatives coming up have the challenge of lack of direction because there is no adequate body that is really recognised to help the upcoming generation of new creatives. Although this industry is about exploring your thinking but then, some people are actually lost that they don’t know the direction they are headed,” she said.

She noted that the best way to right wrong things is by ensuring that the diversity in the industry have mentorship so as to make many young creatives stay and explore.

According to her, “I have seen people’s passion die because they didn’t get adequate support or push to move further, so they just loose interest.”

She, however, advised the upcoming creatives not to get distracted and be consistent, noting that rejection would come but the ability to keep trying would sustain them in reaching their goals.

“About rejection, we have young creatives that are so scared thinking about what people would say. So they find it really hard to put up their portfolio or project as result of condemnation but the thing is, rejection sometimes is good because it makes you to go back to the drawing board and be better about what you doing,” she said.
