The Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has stated that the rush for medical treatment abroad will be greatly reduced if medical facilities across the country are standardised and fully equipped to meet global standards.
Abubakar said this at the official commissioning of Primary Healthcare Centre built and equipped by Sunti Sugar Company for Kanzhi Community in Mokwa Local Council of Niger State.
The royal father, represented by the Galadima Rabba, Alhaji Mohammed Gimba Abubakar, enjoined governments to increase budgetary allocation to the health sector for improved healthcare delivery.
The monarch lauded the management of the company over its regular community interventions.
He urged other firms and wealthy individuals to emulate the company.
Earlier, the company’s General Manager, Mr. Anlo Du Pisani, explained that the project was one of the many others earmarked as part of its corporate social responsibility.
He added that the company conducted an independent need assessment of her host communities and identified priority thematic areas for development and investment using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as reference.
He further said that it was why it resolved to support the communities with school buildings, road rehabilitation, water and healthcare centre.
The general manager, represented by Mr. Barry Parking, promised that the company will not relent in its interventions towards improving the living standard in its host communities.
About three months ago, a block of four classrooms with offices, toilets and other facilities worth millions of naira was built by the company in Kusogi village in Mokwa Local Council.
