Enyimba striker Chijoke Mbaoma is now the leading scorer in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after his brace against Rivers United over the weekend brought his tally to 15 goals. His impressive goal count includes seven scored from the penalty spot.

Former CHAN Eagles striker Sikiru Alimi of Remo Stars is just one goal behind Mbaoma, with a total of 14 goals, including four penalties. Plateau United striker Albert Hilary has netted 12 goals, with two coming from the penalty spot.

Both Godwin Obaje of Enugu Rangers and Bashir Usman of Niger Tornadoes have scored 11 goals each this season. Meanwhile, three players have reached the 10-goal mark: Robert Mizo of Bayelsa United, and the Kano Pillars duo of Ibrahim Mustapha and Rabiu Ali. Notably, Mizo has since moved his talents to Libya.

Mbaoma’s performance has been pivotal for Enyimba, showcasing his skill and consistency in front of goal. As the NPFL season progresses, the race for the top scorer title remains intense, with several strikers in close contention.
