Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has urged the Muslim faithful to do all they could, through their religion, to sustain the unity of Nigeria, especially by being law-abiding.
Uzodimma appealed on Wednesday evening when he organised a banquet for the Muslim community, led by the Seriki Hausa/Muslim, in Imo State, Alhaji Auwal Baba Suleiman, at Government House, Owerri.
According to the governor, religion should not constitute a barrier to cohabitation in the country, advising that they should take advantage of the blessings they have received from fasting and reflection to make an impact on the unity of Nigeria, in the spirit of the “Renewed Hope Agenda” mantra of the Bola Tinubu administration.
Congratulating the Muslim faithful on their successful completion of fasting, he advised them to forgive those who have offended them in the past, and live lives of sincerity. Reminiscent of the gains derived from the 2023 pilgrimage to the holy land, Uzodimma promised that they might have the opportunity of travelling again this year.
In his speech, the Seriki Hausa/Muslim in Imo State, described Uzodimma as the most Muslim/Hausa-friendly governor in the country, thanking him for the cooperation he has always extended to them, despite being a Christian.
