Eid-el-Fitr: Diri, Mbah urge Muslims to pray for peace, progress of states, country

Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has felicitated with the Muslim faithful in the state and across Nigeria on this year’s Eid-el-Fitr festivities.

The governor, in a statement, issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, yesterday, noted that the month-long Ramadan fast, which culminates in Eid-el-Fitr, was a period for Muslims to reflect on the lessons of tolerance, love and sacrifice that the celebration typifies.


Diri stated that as one of the key pillars of Islam, Ramadan is important for developing the virtues of self-renunciation in every true Muslim.

While felicitating with adherents of the Islamic faith, he urged them to pray for the peace, progress and prosperity of Bayelsa State and Nigeria.

MEANWHILE, the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has congratulated the Muslim Ummah in the state and the nation on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, urging them to continue to exhibit the lessons of Ramadan, including the virtues of love, tolerance and perseverance to move the state and Nigeria forward.

Mbah also reiterated his resolve to invest every fibre in him to work for the total development of the state and the peaceful co-existence of its people.

He stated this in his Eid-el-Fitri goodwill message to the Muslim Ummah in the state, yesterday, reminding Nigerians of the need to be their brother’s keeper.
