Eid al-Fitr: Lagos NSCDC deploys 2,500 officers, commits to security

Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2,500 officers and men to ensure adequate security and protection of critical national assets and infrastructure in the state during the 2023 Eid al-Fitr celebration.


Eid al-Fitr is also known as Eid ul-Fitr.
The State Commandant, Usman Ishaq Alfadarai, who disclosed this, while addressing top management of the Command, said it was very important to ensure speedy deployment of personnel during the celebration and at all times.

He said the re-invigorated strategies put in place would aid the arrest of criminals and eradicate the nefarious activities of vandals and other criminal elements that could be inimical to the economic growth and development of the state.

He said: “We will not allow any form of economic sabotage, before, during and after this year’s Eid ul-Fitr celebration.

“It is important to state clearly that the Command has mapped out its operational strategies and procedures, identified volatile spots and points and also factored in, response mechanisms during eventualities, in a bid to ensure peaceful celebrations and adequate protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, before, during and after the holidays, among other things.”


The Commandant further urged the Head of Departments, Head of Units in the Command, Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of sub-divisions and outposts, Unit and Tactical Commanders, to take responsibility, for the deployment of adequate personnel across the state.

He also charged the officers and men of the corps, to bring the right and appropriate impetus on board in protecting all strategic locations, points, facilities, right of ways, oil pipeline installations, religious and worship centres, parks and gardens, disaster and traffic control and management, and all assets in the state.

Alfadarai advised personnel to make good use of robust intelligence gathering and processing intensive patrol and monitoring of identified spots and assets, physical and psychological, crime prevention mechanisms, emergency response and disaster management skills, to nip security matters in the bud before they escalate, while members of the public are as well advised to contact the following phone lines in case of emergencies- 08187186124, 08163597310.

The Commandant warned the officers and men deployed to be on the alert as they discharge their duties without fear or favour of any kind, and congratulated Muslim faithful, in the state, for a successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan and wished them the best rewards from God Almighty.

He also further charged them to remain professional, competent and to respect the rights and privileges of the civil populace, in the course of their duties, before, during and after the celebrations, as any one found wanting of any infraction against the people would not be spared.
