EFCC: Kogi governor Ododo arrives Bello’s residence

Kogi governor-elect Ododo Ahmed Usman

Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, had arrived at the residence of the former governor of the state Yahaya Bello.

Ododo showed up at Bello’s residence after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) laid siege to his residence in Abuja.

On Wednesday the anti-graft agency stormed Bello’s residence and barricaded it since 9:00 am. No reason was given for the operation by the EFCC.

Also present at the residence of the former governor were his supporters.

Yahaya Bello was indicated in March, in an alleged diversion of about N100 billion months before he became governor in September 2015.

The Commission had joined Bello in the amended suit alongside the Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor, Alli Bello, and a certain Daudu Suleiman.

Bello was not a defendant in the original suit and was not in court on the said day.

In the first count, he and the two suspects were accused of conspiring with each other in September 2015 and converting N80, 246, 470, 089 for personal use.

Also, they were alleged to have run foul of section 18 (a) of the Money Laundering Prohibition Act 2011.
