Eedris Abdulkareem Tackles Tinubu, Pastor Adeboye in New Song ‘Emi Lokan’

Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has released a new song titled ‘Emi Lokan,’ targeting prominent figures like President Bola Tinubu, ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, and Pastor Adeboye.

The song, which has already garnered significant attention, highlights the current struggles facing Nigerians, including widespread hunger and economic hardship.

Eedris Abdulkareem pulls no punches in his lyrics, criticizing the political elite for their perceived neglect of the common people.

He opens the song by renaming the popular political slogan “Emi Lokan” into “Ebi Lokan,” reflecting the cries of hungry Nigerians. “Emi lokan don turn ebi lokan, Yorubas are screaming ‘ebi panwao ooo’,” he sings, underscoring the nation’s deepening crisis.

The artist paints a grim picture of the state of the nation, pointing out that basic necessities like food have become luxuries.

“Food has turned to gold, and kidnapping is now the order of the day,” Eedris laments, highlighting the rampant insecurity and its impact on ordinary citizens.

He did not hold back in addressing the political class directly. Eedris questions their response to the crisis, suggesting that if politicians’ families were targeted by kidnappers, the government would act swiftly.

“Imagine say na your grandchildren they are kidnapping, by now your soldiers for don scatter Nigeria,” he asserts.

The song also takes aim at the spending by the government amidst the suffering of the populace. Eedris criticises the billions allocated for renovating residences, travelling allowances, and maintenance of government facilities while ordinary Nigerians struggle to make ends meet.

“7 billion to renovate your residence, 15 billion for your traveling allowance, 40 billion for Aso Rock maintenance, 5 billion for food and refreshments,” he lists, contrasting these figures with the plight of the common man.

Eedris also calls out Pastor Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God for his silence during these tough times.

He recalls Adeboye’s protest against killings during Goodluck Jonathan’s administration and questions his current stance.

“During Goodluck Jonathan, your voice was so loud, you even vowed to stage a 1 million man march. Now, hunger and hardship under Tinubu’s government, you say Nigeria has a spiritual problem,” he challenges.

Turning his attention back to President Tinubu, Eedris criticises his leadership and the blame game between current and past administrations.

“Tinubu’s government blames Buhari, Buhari’s government blamed Jonathan. Hunger dey, people dey die. This one don pass Jagajaga,” he sings, referring to the infamous song ‘Jaga Jaga’ that criticised corruption in Nigeria.

Eedris concludes with a sharp rebuke of the current administration, urging them to take responsibility and address the nation’s issues head-on.

“Tinubu was APC party leader, and brought Buhari regime. Why didn’t you help Buhari solve the problem?” he asks, stressing the need for genuine leadership and accountability.
