Edo: Only results announced by recognised officials will be accepted – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said only results announced by duly recognized officials will be recognised for the governorship primary in Edo state.

“We wish to state categorically that only the Governor Hope Uzodinma-led Edo State APC Governorship Primary Election Committee is duly authorized to undertake final collation and announcement of results of the Primary Election in the State,” the party spokesman Felix Moria said.

He also urged all APC members, officials in Edo State, and the general public to disregard the said announcement of results by these unauthorized persons.

Lucky Imasuen and Osagie Ize-Iyamu withdrew from the contest before voting started on Saturday.


At least 10 other aspirants are still battling for the APC governorship ticket.

They include the former Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Agba; the current member representing Etsako Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Anamero Dekeri and a member of the South-South executive committee of the party, Blessing Agbomhere.

Others are retired Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Ernest Umakhihe; the member representing Edo Central Senatorial District, Sen Monday Okpebholo and Businessman, Engr Gideon Ikhine.


Also in the race are former governor, Senator Oserheimen Osunbor and former state chairman of the party David Imuse.

Others are former Executive Director, Finance in the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Major General Charles Airhiavbere retd and the member representing Ovia Federal Constituency, Hon Dennis Idahosa.
