Ighodalo congratulates Okpebholo, Apata, calls for Issue-based campaigns
Aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, yesterday, embarked on a peaceful protest over the outcome of last Saturday’s APC governorship primary election that produced Monday Okpebholo as the candidate of the party.

Harrison Okpamen, who spoke on behalf of the protesters at the Edo State Council Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), said that the exercise that produced Idahosa as the candidate is the authentic one.

They insisted that the exercise that was conducted on Saturday was a mere allocation of votes, alleging that while they were in the field to conclude the exercise as directed by the party, others, in connivance with members of the electoral committee, led by the Governor of Cross Rivers State, Bassey Etu, were just allocating figures to aspirants.

MEANWHILE, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the forthcoming Edo State election, Asue Ighodalo, yesterday, congratulated the governorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and that of the Labour Party (LP), Monday Okpebholo, and Olumide Akpata, respectively, on their emergence, urging them to join him in a commitment to focus on issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2023 governorship election.

Ighodalo restated his firm belief that Edo’s strength is the unity of its people. He appealed to all candidates to refrain from campaigning with messages that promote division and disunity.
