Drake took to Instagram Stories on Monday to express frustration with the Recording Academy and the Grammy Awards.
In a message directed towards his fellow artists, he downplayed the significance of the awards, calling them merely “the opinions of a group of people whose name are kept a secret.”
This isn’t the first time Drake has voiced his criticisms of the Grammys.
In 2019, during his acceptance speech for Best Rap Song for “God’s Plan,” he famously stated that “you’ve already won if you have people singing your songs word for word, if you’re a hero in your hometown.” His speech was abruptly cut short by the award organizers.
His latest message, posted just hours after the 66th Grammy Awards ceremony, comes across as both congratulatory and dismissive.
He offers a lukewarm “congrats to anybody winning anything for hip hop,” but quickly follows it with the blunt statement, “this show doesn’t dictate s**t in our world.”
This reinforces his long-held belief that the Grammys, while prestigious, do not hold the ultimate power in validating an artist’s success or impact.
